The Los Angeles Times (and many other outlets) is reporting that a porn actress has been diagnosed with HIV. She is, as yet, unnamed.
This is very bad news, for her, for her co-stars, for the industry. It probably could have been avoided if condom use were more widespread among porn studios. As a porn consumer, I try to get movies that portray the actors using condoms, but I don't always know in advance. All too often, in the bisexual movies I like, the man-on-man scenes will feature condoms, but the same men will go rubberless when they get with a woman.
Some porn fans prefer movies without condoms, and there are studios that cater to them, alas. Some of them are even proud of the fact. I wish there were many more studios that proudly proclaimed that they used condoms, so that responsible porn fans would know which ones to patronize.
